Best Healthcare Initiative Award

This award will be granted to a team working in a hospital or medical university in the United Arab Emirates, in honor of their achievements in promoting Caring Like Family culture and improving performance of the hospital services or clinical educational services. To qualify for the Best Healthcare Initiative Award, the organization must demonstrate the following:

Following are the entry requirements for the organization to submit the initiative for award. Please don’t write the organization name or identity except in organization name and profile section to maintain confidentiality and transparency in the evaluation process. Provided information will be published on printed, electronic, and social media, etc. only for award winners:
  • Organization name and profile (maximum words 100)
  • Initiative team high-resolution photo (maximum size 3MB)
  • Initiative title and sub-title (maximum words 50)
  • Initiative achievement summary (maximum words 200)
  • How initiative was planned and originated? What issues and challenges were tackled during the initiative? What were the issues and challenges needing to be addressed? (maximum words 250)
  • How were goals and core objectives of the initiative planned? Who were involved in the planning and goal setting and what were the agreed SMART objectives of the initiative? (maximum words 250)
  • How the initiative progressed over time? Include key milestones and their achievement timeline and how organization’s leadership, staff, patients, and other stakeholders participated during the execution of the initiative? (maximum words 300)
  • How outcomes from the initiatives were sustained within the organization and how these could be utilized for improving healthcare system in the country? (maximum words 200)
  • Did initiative achieve a national or international recognition or award in the past? Did you submit the same initiative currently for another award at the national or international level? Describe (maximum words 150)
  • Healthcare organizations which had successfully completed an initiative / performance improvement / service enhancement project between January – December 2022 are eligible to apply for this Caring Like Family – SGH Award
  • Award application must be made by the organization (hospital or medical university) in which the initiative was completed. It is a team award and team must comprise of 5 – 8 members.
  • One account shall be created for an organization, multiple accounts from same organization will not be entertained.
  • Each healthcare organization can submit maximum of two (2) initiatives during this cycle.
  • Organization must have company registration and license to provide patient care or medical education from any of the following:
    • Dubai Health Authority (DHA)
    • Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP)
    • Department of Health (DOH)
    • Sharjah Health Authority (SHA)
  • Application forms require an official signed and stamped nomination letter from the governance board, or chief executive officer of the organization to be uploaded on the portal.
  • Application is done by filling out the form electronically (no application forms through e-mails or any other method are accepted).
  • Click on “Enroll Now” to activate an account on the Caring Like Family Awards by Saudi German Health UAE website www.sghawards.com
  • Application forms must be filled in English language and must fulfil all “Entry Requirements” mentioned in previous section.
  • Scanned copies of the following documents must be attached with the nomination form:
    • Company registration certificate
    • License from MOHAP, DHA, DOH, or SHA
  • Each nomination may have a maximum of 5 files of supporting documents with maximum size of 5MB each.
  • For video attachment(s), please upload the video to your organization drive and enter the drive link in the documents’ attachment page.
  • After creating the account, nomination form(s) can be saved as “In Process” for further editing before final submission, and only with status of “Submitted” will be considered.
  • Organization account user is the sole employer contact for all correspondence and is responsible for sharing candidate information with all evaluators.
  • After the application deadline, no other application forms will be automatically accepted.
  • All application forms are sorted in terms of completing the documents required to apply for the award.
  • Candidacy forms that meet the conditions are evaluated by the technical committees as a first stage of evaluation.
  • Application forms that meet the conditions are evaluated by the Judging committee as a second stage of evaluation.
  • Evaluation will be carried out using an electronic system for scoring points by technical committee and judging committee without knowing the identity of the organization to ensure the credibility and transparency of the process.
  • All decisions of the judging committee regarding the winners will be final and there will be no process for reconsideration.
  • Top three (3) initiatives will be selected to receive the award (Gold, Silver, and Bronze).
  • Award winners will be announced during the Caring Like Family Awards Grand Ceremony to be held in Dubai during September 2023.

    Providing a health service that considers the patient’s needs under the slogan “Caring Like Family” while ensuring the patient and his family are fully aware of his health condition and any medical decision related to the patient.
    Evidence-based Healthcare Practices
    Providing evidence-based healthcare on published scientific literature evidence that enables health service providers to evaluate and improve the care provided to the patient.
    Effective Communication
    (a). Effective communication with the patient and his family that respects the patient’s culture and wishes.
    (b). Communicating with all hospital staff to coordinate integrated medical care
    Professional Commitment
    (a). Commitment to the highest standards of professionalism, ethics and personal responsibility that deserve the trust that the patient and his family place in health service providers.
    (b). Preserving the confidentiality of patient information and avoiding unintentional disclosure.
    (c). Dealing in a positive way with controlling feelings and emotions and not showing them to those around him in a way that guarantees preserving the feelings of patients and their families
    Flexibility, Agility and Adaptability
    The health service provider must be able to adapt to sudden, rapid changes that may occur in society (such as the Corona pandemic) and be able to make decisions under any pressure.

    (a). Providing health services with empathy and compassion without discrimination based on culture, race, religion, age, disability, social and economic status, or education.
    (b). Dealing with patients, their families, and the work team in a manner appropriate to professional ethics.
    (c). Actively listens to patients, their families, and the work team, and seeks to understand different points of view and ideas.
    (d). Helps create a work environment full of empathy and compassion to reassure patients, their families, and members of the medical team.

    To be keen to educate the patient and his family about his health condition and what he should do and avoid during and after receiving the health service.

    (a). Appreciates the role and contribution of each member of the medical and non- medical team.
    (b). It contributes to enhancing the effectiveness of the work team in cooperation and information exchange.
    (c). Gives priority to the needs of the patient and his family.
    Innovation
    (a). Providing innovative solutions that contribute to improving the medical service.
    (b). Provide ideas and suggestions that work to maximize the available resources to improve the quality of medical service.

    Ensuring the effective use of resources without waste, while spreading awareness of preserving them.
